This very unique work rescues a doctrinal discourse on the meaning of the name Tetragrammaton whose hermeneutics is first applied to the Hebrew characters with which it is written and then translated into Latin. This book could be part of the Renaissance current of the so-called "Christian Kabbalah" so in vogue at the time in France and Italy.
Translated and profusely annotated by Carmen de la Maza y Ribera, this is the first Spanish version of the allocutio. This edition includes another booklet by Arnau de Vilanova, the Treaty of Charity.
ARNAU DE VILANOVA, (1238-1311) was a doctor, philosopher and visionary. He studied at the faculty of
Montpellier where he graduated as Master of Medicine. We owe him more than 70 medical works and an indeterminate number of philosophical booklets like the one we are publishing, many of them disappeared in 1316 at the stake of the Inquisition.
